It's one long honeymoon
Steafán Hanvey appears at Auntie Annie's Porterhouse in Belfast next Wednesday.

He will be showcasting songs from forthcoming album which will be released early in 2005.

As ever with the Co. Down singer/songwriter nothing is simple. The recording of "Steafán Hanvey and The Honeymoon Junkies" - his debut CD - took place in four different places. London, Dublin and Belfast are not too unusual. But Helsinki?

"There is a very good reason for that," Steafán said.

Record
"I moved there about four years ago and am back and forth a lot. I just tended to record there songs wherever I happned to be." By the look of things, Steafán "happens to be" just about everywhere but Helsinki these days. Much of his live work seems to be in Ireland. Mind you this week he was working in the United States.

Originally from Ash's home town of Downpatrick, Steafán grew up with the boys who became Relish, Two members of that band, brothers Ken and Carl Papenfus, play on his album.

The CD was mixed by Kieran Lynch. He worked on U2's new album due next month. His experience has been as invaluable to the project as Steafán's enthusiasm.

Steafán is one of those performers blessed with a distinctive voice. When you hear a song like "Rooms" or "Fair Weather Friend" on the radio there is no mistaking who it is!

Mind you how so many performers from here end up singing in an American accent has always been a great mystery to me!
