Mixing in Malmö

I'm off to Malmö in the morning, well, Copenhagen first, have a look around, then to Malmö where together with the new album's co-producer, Léo Fourastie and mixer Tore Johansson, I will proceed to tweak the album until finish. That will be sometime either on Sunday or Monday. I'll be coming back to Ireland with a new record that will then be sent to Seattle for mastering. But first things first.

Wish me luck and stay well.

Here's to a wonderful new year!

Dear friends and foes,
I hope 2009 is a healthy and enjoyable Year for each and every one of you.

My first Irish gig of the year was over in Galway at The Crane opening for The Guggenheim Grotto. The lads deserved their standing ovation. Thanks for having me along.

It was good to play in front of an Irish audience again after the break to tour the USA and write and record my new record which will get its release in 2009. There were nerves alright, but the audience were warm and welcoming which made it easier to play my new material. It's been a great year and I've enjoyed the most of it. Here's to another and hopefully many more.

My next show is down at The Roisin Dubh on Valentine's Day opening for Maria Doyle Kennedy. Hope to see you there.

Happy New Year.

Peace and love,

Steafán

ALBUM NEWS

Dear friends,
Welcome to December.

I'm very happy to announce that top Swedish Producer, Tore Johansson will begin mixing my new record in Jan 2009. Tore is renowned for his work with The Cardigans, New Order, Franz Ferdinand and a favourite of mine, Martha Wainwright. Tore has a knack of making a record sound great without it sounding over produced. He somehow manages to get all the hi&lo-fi in there in the same picture. I'm looking forward to it very much. I don't know how he does it, but I guess I'll find out soon enough.

The recording of my second album has almost finished and I can tell you that Ken and Carl Papenfus of melodic-power trio "Relish" feature heavily on this record as they did on the first. This time however, on this record there are 3 co-writes with the brothers. I'm looking forward to sharing the results with you sometime in 2009.

On the gig front, there are 2 new confirmed supports with The Guggenheim Grotto and Maria Doyle Kennedy. See tour section.

Til the next time, wrap up and stay warm.

Peace and love,

Steafán

End in Sight.

~Ken & Carl Papenfus and myself in Helsinki~

~Myself and my co-producer Léo Fourastié in Brittany~

Dear readers,
I write from my sick bed. I blame David Kitt for giving me his cold at The Tinderstick's concert in Vicar St. on Sunday night. Great gig by the way.

How and ever,
I'm sad that The Wire has come to an end, but happy that record, LP, CD, album no.2 (take your pick) is nearing completion. Backing vocals are being added as I write by Ken and Carl and mixing will begin in Jan 2009.

Great to see an O'Bama in the White House.

Wrap up and watch this space.

Love,

Steafán
