ALBUM NEWS

Dear friends,
Welcome to December.

I'm very happy to announce that top Swedish Producer, Tore Johansson will begin mixing my new record in Jan 2009. Tore is renowned for his work with The Cardigans, New Order, Franz Ferdinand and a favourite of mine, Martha Wainwright. Tore has a knack of making a record sound great without it sounding over produced. He somehow manages to get all the hi&lo-fi in there in the same picture. I'm looking forward to it very much. I don't know how he does it, but I guess I'll find out soon enough.

The recording of my second album has almost finished and I can tell you that Ken and Carl Papenfus of melodic-power trio "Relish" feature heavily on this record as they did on the first. This time however, on this record there are 3 co-writes with the brothers. I'm looking forward to sharing the results with you sometime in 2009.

On the gig front, there are 2 new confirmed supports with The Guggenheim Grotto and Maria Doyle Kennedy. See tour section.

Til the next time, wrap up and stay warm.

Peace and love,

Steafán

End in Sight.

~Ken & Carl Papenfus and myself in Helsinki~

~Myself and my co-producer Léo Fourastié in Brittany~

Dear readers,
I write from my sick bed. I blame David Kitt for giving me his cold at The Tinderstick's concert in Vicar St. on Sunday night. Great gig by the way.

How and ever,
I'm sad that The Wire has come to an end, but happy that record, LP, CD, album no.2 (take your pick) is nearing completion. Backing vocals are being added as I write by Ken and Carl and mixing will begin in Jan 2009.

Great to see an O'Bama in the White House.

Wrap up and watch this space.

Love,

Steafán

Recording in Brittany: Vocals for album almost done

Greetings from Brittany.

I've been down here recording vocals for the new record. It's been going well. I've had a few local musicians drop by and lay some interesting sounds down too. It's shaping up nicely and can't wait to get it mixed, mastered and out so you can hear the new songs. Feels great, a part from the cold I got mid week. Will keep you posted.

Bonne chance

Where Was I?

That was the year that was...

2007 was a busy year insofar as the writing and recording of new material was concerned.

In November I went to Helsinki to begin work on my next record. Once again, I was joined by Ken and Carl Papenfus from RELISH and i'm thrilled that this record will feature collaborations with the brothers. Jukka Jylli of Finnish cult power trio KINGSTON WALL played bass on the first session. I was delighted to team up with my good friend Léo Fourástié, who engineered and produced the session. The record will be finished this spring and released some time later in the year.

In July I made my first music video which was an interesting experience. Again the location was Finland. An opportunity arose to work with acclaimed Finnish cinematographer and director Sampsa Huttunen, director Tuomas Valtanen, and actress Saila laakkonen of Finnish TV series Salatut Elämät.

When in Helsinki recording my album I was able to open for the gothic rockers Marbleheroes. Turned out to be a great show, very intimate and a tad nervy as it was my first performance in in some time. Thanks to the lovely Sanna Helén for joining me on Viola.

Brian Bridges, half of Irish experiMENTAL industrial outfit AUDOGENIC, got his hands on the Desperation files and went about remixing it the way he always heard it. You can check it out on my blog. It's rather experimental.

The year also saw me team up with the other half of Audogenic, Phil Grier. This project was very rewarding and the results rather tasteful, if I do say so myself. See for yourself on my blog.

All said, a very enjoyable, rewarding year.

Thanks to all of you who helped make it a great one. Here's to another!
Happy New Year, and I hope to see some of you very soon.

Love, Steafán

Long Play number 2-new songs!!

Dear all,

I'm delighted to announce that my recent recording session in Helsinki bore great results. I laid down several tracks again with Ken and Carl Papenfus from Relish in tow. There are a few collaborations too which I'm pretty excited about. Jukka Jylli from Finnish cult super group Kingston Wall joined me on bass for this particular session. I'm looking forward to sharing the results in the early new year.
See blog for details...

I stepped back onto the stage after spending recent months writing, traveling and demoing the songs for this record. I opened for The Marbleheroes (my heroes!) at Liberte in Helsinki and it was really great to have the opportunity to play some new songs to an unsuspecting audience. A great night.
